(IT-NEWSWIRE.COM, August 12, 2017 ) This research finds that global desktop PC market demand slipped considerably in 2015 to around 114 million units, down 13.7% year-on-year. This is because the replacement demand for commercial desktop PCs triggered by Microsoft's decision in 2014 to end releasing updates for Windows XP did not continue into 2015. In recent years, as the gaming ecosystem is shaping up, software and hardware developers, information service providers, and even governments have been attempting to unearth market opportunities coming from this new arena. Despite so, global desktop PC shipment volume is forecast to fall further to 106 million units in 2016, down 6.8% year-on-year.
