(IT-NEWSWIRE.COM, August 08, 2017 ) Seychelles, Africa ---- Just a few weeks ago, China has announced that they are banning all types of VPNs and proxy servers to their entire country. Chinese citizens were no longer allowed to use proxy servers unless it was approved by the government.
Ordinary citizens will no longer access information from foreign websites regarding information from the outside world including the most popular social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Google. All news and information that will circulate in China’s internet browsers will be all local and under the hawk eyes of the Great Firewall.
This means that mostly big businesses only especially in the BPO industry were the only privileged people to access and buy proxy servers and VPNs under the Chinese Government’s authorization since they need them to communicate with their clients worldwide and trade information.
By February 2018, the three giant telecommunication companies that operate in China will be blocking all types of proxy servers and VPNs according to Bloomberg News report. These telecommunication companies are China Telecom, China Mobile, and China Unicom that are all owned by the state.
Weeks after China has dropped the bomb, Russia followed and now Apple’s name is being linked to the issue. How did Apple’s name become a part of this alarming issue?
Apple has confirmed that they have removed their VPN software from China’s App Store. This is due to the Chinese Government’s demand after banning all VPN and proxy servers within their country. According to Tim Cook, Apple believes that "engaging with governments even when we disagree". Even if they prefer not to remove the apps, they have to follow the laws of the countries that they do business with.
Organizations and individual internet users buy proxy servers and VPNs to get around all kinds of internet censorship to access information that is either blocked, geo-restricted, or exclusive to limited users only. The strict regulation of China and Russia in their cyberspace is mainly focused on fighting illegal content and the rise of hate against the government due to alarming stories that spread in and out of their country’s cyberspace.
Since Apple’s compliance with China’s rules, their sales have dropped to the fifth quarter falling behind their local competitors such as Xiaomi, Vivo, Oppo, and Huawei. In the simplest manner, it is better to comply with the rules than to be thrown out of the market and earn nothing. As per Russia’s ban over VPNs and proxy servers, it will be effective starting November 1.
Russia and China might have built a thick wall before these awesome servers but you don’t have to worry about it if you’re outside these countries. You can still buy proxy servers and VPNs freely at reliable service providers like High Proxies anytime you wish. Just contact their 24/7 customer service and you’ll be up and surfing on the internet fast and without restrictions.
